Thanks to Steven the Buddha Root for reminding me of the Flip Flop mix, which also has some summer connotations and vibrations. Steve was one of the key people who inspired me to start mixing in the first place, and we used to throw down in probably Iowa’s first underground “pre-rave” parties in Decorah, Iowa basements in 1990. Since I haven’t had time to make new stuff much lately, I figure I’ll just keep posting from the seemingly endless pit of things that I did with myself in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I hope you enjoy the FlipFlop mix.

Summer is a nice time for reggae and ragga in my book. Here’s an old mix of ragga jungle tracks, many of which I have no idea what the titles are - as they were white label records on Congo Natty and some other labels. I mixed this in late 2001/ early 2002 and still enjoy hearing it now and again. I hope you will too!

I meant to post this on my birthday (6-26-06 =37) but forgot! Many of you have this or have heard, but for those who haven’t, it’s an ambient mix I made in NY in December 2001, and perhaps the best I ever made, "The Bestest Sweetest Dreams Ever — meant to play at bedtime for little babies or big ones, like me. It features the words of the Beatles’ guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi near the beginning. I also put it together with video in this low quality RealPlayer video, but hope to one day redo it in Quicktime as well.

Since I messed up the feed by putting in DJ mixes, I decided to make a separate post, so music mixes and podcasts will always have their own posts now. So I’m reposting a couple mixes: (again, sorry if you got these more than once)…

Whale-a-Dub mix— Ambient, deep dub, and a flexidisc of Whale songs from the National Geographic magzine I’ve had since I was wee little. I basically made a bunch of mixes in order to get a bunch of my vinyl onto CD, so I was more focused on getting entire songs onto CD than just mixing and mixing, if you know what I mean.
